The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, invite online applications from eligible Indian citizens for recruitment to Level-1 posts in Indian Railways. These posts are entry-level positions required for the smooth functioning, maintenance, safety, and daily operations of the railway system across different zones and production units. Job Responsibilities:
Selected candidates will be responsible for duties such as maintenance of railway tracks, assisting in signaling and communication systems, helping in electrical and mechanical maintenance works, supporting station operations, ensuring passenger safety, and performing other operational or field-level tasks. Many posts involve outdoor duties, shift work, night duties, and physical labor depending on the department and posting.
Educational Qualification:
Candidates must have passed 10th Class (Matriculation) from a recognized board
OR
Must possess ITI Certificate or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) issued by NCVT / SCVT or equivalent qualification.
The prescribed qualification must be completed on or before the closing date of online application.
Age Limit (as on 01 January 2026):
Minimum Age: 18 years
Maximum Age: 33 years
Age Relaxation:
Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST): 5 years
Other Backward Classes (OBC – Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): Up to 10 years
Ex-Servicemen and other eligible categories will receive age relaxation as per Government of India rules.
Pay Scale / Salary:
Pay Level-1 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix
Initial Basic Pay: ₹18,000 per month
In addition to basic pay, employees are entitled to Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance, Night Duty Allowance (where applicable), and other admissible allowances as per railway rules.
The approximate gross monthly salary may range from ₹24,000 to ₹27,000, depending on place of posting.

Computer Based Test (CBT) Details:
The CBT will be an objective-type examination consisting of questions from:
Mathematics
General Intelligence & Reasoning
General Science
General Awareness & Current Affairs
There will be negative marking for incorrect answers. The duration of the exam will be 90 minutes (120 minutes for eligible PwBD candidates).
Physical Efficiency Test (PET):
Candidates qualifying in CBT will be required to appear for PET. The PET will include tasks such as running and lifting weight, and qualifying standards will be as prescribed in the official notification. PET is qualifying in nature.
Medical Standards:
Candidates must be medically fit as per Indian Railways medical standards for the respective posts. Final appointment is subject to clearing the medical examination.
