The Office of the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (Pr. CCIT), West Bengal & Sikkim Region, invites applications from eligible Indian citizens for recruitment of meritorious sportspersons to the posts of Tax Assistant (TA) and Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) under the Sports Quota. A total of 82 vacancies are available.

Educational Qualification
Tax Assistant (TA): Graduation/Degree from a recognized University or equivalent qualification.
Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS): Matriculation (Class 10th) pass or equivalent from a recognized Board.
Sports Eligibility
Candidates must be meritorious sportspersons with recognized achievements, including participation/achievement at specified levels such as:
Represented India in International competitions
Represented State/UT in National Championships / National Games
Medal winners in Junior National Championships
Medal winners in Khelo India Youth Games, Khelo India Winter Games, Khelo India Para Games and Khelo India University Games
School Games Federation of India (SGFI)
University representation in Inter-University tournaments
State School Team representation in National School Games
For Chess, Grand Master (GM), International Master (IM) titles and Chess Olympiad participation are also covered under the specified conditions.
Sports Achievement Period: 01 January 2022 to 30 June 2026
Age Limit
As on 01 July 2026:
Tax Assistant: 18 to 27 years
MTS: 18 to 25 years
Age Relaxation:
UR/OBC: 5 years
SC/ST: 10 years
Age relaxation is subject to the applicable rules and fulfillment of the prescribed sports eligibility.
Salary
Tax Assistant: Pay Level-4 – ₹25,500 to ₹81,100
Multi-Tasking Staff: Pay Level-1 – ₹18,000 to ₹56,900
In-hand salary will vary according to the posting location after adding applicable DA, HRA and other admissible allowances.

Ground / Field Proficiency Test
Data Entry Skill Test (DEST) for Tax Assistant – 8,000 key depressions per hour
Final Merit: Selection will be made in order of merit based on sports performance and marks obtained in the Ground/Field Proficiency Test. There is no interview.
Sports Preference Order
Preference will generally be given in the following order:
Represented India in International Competition
Represented State/UT in Senior/Junior National Championships or National Games and secured medal/position up to 3rd
Represented University in Inter-University / Khelo India University Games and secured medal/position up to 3rd
Represented State/UT in Khelo India Youth / Winter / Para Games and secured medal/position up to 3rd
Represented State School in National School Games and secured medal/position up to 3rd
Participation at the above levels without winning a medal/position
In case of a tie, the higher sports achievement during the eligibility period and then the cumulative number of medals will be considered.

How to Apply
Eligible candidates must apply in the prescribed Annexure-A application form and send it by post. The physical application is mandatory; the Google Form is an additional requirement.
Step 1: Download the official notification and Annexure-A application form from www.incometaxindia.gov.in
Step 2: Fill the application form in capital letters using blue/black ink and attach a recent passport-size photograph attested by a Gazetted Officer.
Step 3: Attach attested photocopies of all required documents, including ID proof, address proof, educational certificates, caste/PwBD certificates (if applicable) and sports certificates.
Step 4: Attach Annexure-B declaration, Annexure-C certificates (if applicable) and sports certificates/forms as prescribed.
Step 5: Super-scribe the envelope as:
“APPLICATION FOR THE POST(S) OF ______ FOR RECRUITMENT OF MERITORIOUS SPORTSPERSONS IN INCOME TAX DEPARTMENT, WEST BENGAL & SIKKIM”

Step 8: Ensure that the physical application reaches the office on or before 30 September 2026. Physical presence for submission is not compulsory.
