Job Description & Details
Indian Army TES-56 Entry 2026 — Officer Career Guide for PCM Students
The Indian Army 10+2 Technical Entry Scheme (TES-56) 2026 is one of the most prestigious direct entry routes into the Indian Army Officer cadre for young men who have completed their 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Unlike other Army officer entries that require graduation, TES allows 12th pass students to become Army officers — making it the earliest possible pathway to an Army commission. For young men from Assam who aspire to serve the nation in uniform, TES is a remarkable opportunity.
The age eligibility of 16 and a half to 19 and a half years means this is specifically targeted at students who have just completed or are about to complete their Higher Secondary (AHSEC) examination in Assam. Candidates born between 2 July 2007 and 1 January 2011 are eligible. The minimum requirement of 60 percent marks in PCM — Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics — plus a valid JEE Mains 2025 score means academically strong science students have a direct pathway to an Army commission without appearing for any additional written examination.
Training and Commission
Selected candidates first undergo a 5-day SSB (Services Selection Board) interview followed by medical examination. Those who clear all stages are enrolled at Officer Training Academy (OTA) and later at Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun. After successful completion of training, candidates are commissioned as Lieutenant in the Indian Army with a starting salary of approximately Rs. 56,100 per month during training — which rises to approximately Rs. 17 to 18 lakh per year after commissioning as Lieutenant.
Why Army Officers from Assam Are Special
Assam has a rich tradition of military service. Young men from Assam who join as officers through TES carry the values of their communities — resilience, adaptability, and deep love of the land — into the Army. Start SSB coaching at least 6 months before your interview date. Apply at joinindianarmy.nic.in before 12 June 2026.
